- Drink water first thing in the morning! I am a fellow coffee lover but starting your day hydrating yourself will make a huge difference and your skin will love you. Adding fresh lemon or lime is even better bringing more nutrients into your days.
- Make half your plate veggies!!
Eating a well balanced plate will make a huge difference in your overall appearance and lifestyle. Veggies have so many nutrients and this is a simple hack for portion control. Veggies are packed with nutrients and fiber also promoting weight loss. - Eat whole food.
Eating a majority of food that is made up of one ingredient is the best thing you can do for your body. These are foods like chicken, steak, apples, berries, beans, broccoli, etc.
If you’re eating anything processed, make sure it’s a “real food” such as some yogurts, EVOO, Tofu… The reason being is that your body builds and repairs itself with what you give it. Make sure it’s some good stuff. - Start looking into green beauty and making little swaps here and there.
Green beauty aka chemical free beauty/body care products will help reduce your exposure to chemicals. Our skin absorbs everything we put on it directly into our blood stream. Take the time to pay attention to products you use, what’s in them, and finding a cleaner alternative. - Prioritize sleep.
The recommended amount of sleep is 7-9 hours. Most people are not getting anywhere near that with the quality of their sleep lacking as well. Turn the phone and TV off, relax, stretch, and journal. Creating a new night routine will help you improve your sleep quantity and quality because both matter. - Brush your teeth and floss in the morning & evening.
You’d be surprised how many people skip these at night or may not floss altogether. Dental health is great for your teeth and gums but aside from the obvious, it’s also important for heart and brain health. - Have a morning routine.
How you start your day will determine how your day will go. Read all about how to create the best morning routine for a less stressful day here! It’s a huge game changer. - Practice gratitude daily.
Practicing gratitude every day has so many positive benefits to it to improve overall mood and mental health. Here I talk more about practicing gratitude. You can work this into a morning or evening routine, or when you have some time in the middle of the day! - Get movement every day.
Our body needs to be active daily. Find what works for you and your schedule. Being sedentary has so many negative health benefits. I recommend getting in your daily steps and going for a walk and exercising a few days each week. If you can’t make it for a walk or working out, try out some yoga and stretch your body. - Do more of what you enjoy.
This one is typically put on the back burner and we tend to forget how much we enjoyed doing that one thing. Make time each week to do whatever it is that makes you happy! This being exercising, drawing, baking, volunteering, etc.
Remember, you don’t have to tackle these all at once! Small changes over time are the ones that will last the longest and become a habit.
Which one of these stood out to you the most? I’d love to hear from you!
