Happy Monday! I’ve been slowly getting things put away and finishing up some work today after going away this weekend to my parents. I tried to get everything done before I left and there were just some things that ended up waiting. They live pretty far so it’s definitely a long road trip but it was a good visit!
Tommy helped me come to the conclusion that the eggs were causing me to be sick for the last 2 weeks. Not sure if the eggs are just bad (I just bought them) or if I’m just having a weird food reaction like I have with brown rice randomly. I am trying to muster up the courage to give a new pack of eggs another go and honestly contemplating if the nausea and wanting to throw up everywhere are really worth it right now for about 3 hours until it passes. Gonna give it another shot in a few days maybe… I am officially over scrambled eggs though.
The trip there was pretty long but there’s some really pretty views along the way I have to admit.
We got to my parents around 9pm or so. I always bring road trip snackies with me of all types.
I prepped some homemade trail mix, grapes, apples, muffins, etc. to bring with us!
I am also an anxious snacker so I when cars start doing careless stuff on the road, I snack lmao. It’s gotten so much worse since the accident and I recognize I need to work on this bad. My dad made us dinner when we got there and we spent time catching up for about an hour or so before heading to bed for the night. We were both tired, especially Tommy. He was completely done for the day.
I brought my pancakes with me to my parents so I ate those for breakfast with bacon my dad cooked. SO GOOD. I don’t eat bacon often but I enjoy a piece once in awhile.
My mom still had some old stuff of mine that I didn’t know they still had so I went through that while I was back there and kept what I wanted and she will donate/sell the rest.
We also went for a walk by the water stream in their back yard.
The daffodils were growing like wild flowers over there.
I found some pretty stones to keep and clean up. I’ve been obsessed with stones since I was a kid. Always collecting them from everywhere I went. If you gave me a rock, you were my new best friend lol.
My dad made chicken parm for us and mine was made with my ingredients so I could continue being gluten free for my visit. SO GOOD. Tom has so much for left overs we brought back in an ice pack with us. My mom made us an Easter basket which was really nice. She bought us a bunny face to hang so it’s currently on my door. Easter is one of those holidays I don’t really decorate for just spring in general.
We listened to these thriller stories about weird creatures out in the woods lol. Perfect before getting home and going to bed. Something about dogmen, walker things I won’t mention on here because that crap is terrifying, paranormal, and big foot haha. I love me a good sasquatch story. They’re super interesting but they scare the bejesus out of me because I love the woods, hiking, camping, nature.. all the things. I like to be oblivious to life haha. It made the trip go by a lot faster though!
We got back to a cold apartment last night around 8pm. Our landlord texted us that the furnace went out and would be fixed today (it was lol) so we bundled up in sweat pants and long sleeves and went to bed with extra blankets. It was so warm out and all of a sudden cold air and apparently the furnace thought it was prime time to break.
Tom is stopping at the grocery store on his way home from work to grab a couple things we need for the week until we go grocery shopping. We typically do that on the weekend but since we were away, it got pushed. No big deal.
I plan to start dinner soon too, gonna just do something easy with chicken and maybe mashed potatoes for myself. Tommy plans to finish off his chicken parm my dad gave him with some pasta on the side. He’s obsessed.
I hope you all had a great Easter and a good week ahead!
Questions for you:
1. What did you do for Easter?
2. Do you like long road trips?
3. What was the best part of your weekend?
