I grew up in a home where bread was baked fresh by the week.
Nothing smells better in a home than freshly baked bread. NOTHING. Then to make French toast out of it? DELISH.
Crunchy outside, soft fluffy inside, spread some melty butter and ya got yourself heaven 😍🥖🤤
After making Italian bread, I decided I wanted to explore other options. I love French bread because of its texture. Its just delicious!!
I’m looking forward to making French toast with this recipe 😍
French Bread
Ingredients
- 1¼ cup Warm Water
- 2 tsp Sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3-3½ cups Flour All Purpose
- 1 Packet Dry Yeast
Instructions
- 🥖Mix yeast and sugar into the warm water until dissolved. Add in salt and then flour little at a time (3-3 1/2) until you get a soft dough that is not too sticky.
- 🥖Kneed on a lightly floured surface for about 6 min (until the dough is elastic and smooth)
- 🥖Place back into bowl, covered with a clean towel for 1 hour. You want double the size here. #sizematters
- 🥖When dough is risen, place back on the floured surface and divide into two then roll each into a rectangular shape like pictured. Make sure your sides are sealed shut (pinch them).
- 🥖Place loaves on a greased baking sheet. I just used cooking spray. Let rise for about 30 minutes. 🥖preheat oven to 350 and make an egg wash (1 whole egg mixed with 1-ish Tbsp of water. Brush egg wash on top of the loaves right before you bake!! and slice 4 diagonal lines into it.
- 🥖Bake 20-25 min or until golden brown. Let cool and serve warm, topped with some butter or apple butter 🤤
Notes
Makes about 12 slices in each bread (2 loaves)
