Hey guys! Welcome back to another blog post, and welcome to the blog if you’re new. I have never been much for “themes” or decorating in my home but it’s something I am definitely working on.
I’ve been trying incorporate more farmhouse/rustic cozy vibes and slowly but surely, each room is coming together. Mainly I’ve been focusing on the bedroom.

I started with the wooden bed frame that I wrote about when we first got it in my monthly favorites. Then it was the sheets… which I am still clueless on where all my others went after the move! They disappeared so I will be getting more soon. And we updated our pillows to some big fluffy ones! I do miss my feather pillows so I am looking everywhere for the Tommy Hilfiger ones we just threw out. They were so comfy and I am so picky about my pillows.
I decided to tackle the window next. I saw someone made drop cloth curtains on Pinterest and they looked so great in the room. Like they really brought the room together with the farmhouse/cozy vibe I was looking for.
I found an industrial looking curtain rod on Amazon and curtain rings with clips attached so there is no sewing involved! The drop cloth I got at Walmart for less than $10 each.
I really love the curtain rod and the rings so much!! They really pull the whole look together.
The drop cloth is super heavy which helps with keeping the inside cool in the summer and warm in the winter! Plus they keep so much sunlight out despite being a light color. No need for blackout curtains.
The cloth does need to air out… it smells pretty strong lol. But I let it air after it was hung and the smell went away. You can wash these but be mindful if you dry them in the dryer, they will shrink quite a bit.
To get the wrinkles out, I plan to buy a spray… I think it’s by Downy… that sets in the fabric and with a couple pulls, it takes every wrinkle out of the material. When I find it, I’ll be sure to post it for you guys.
Since my ceilings are slanted and short here, We couldn’t put the rod much higher than it is. I recommend placing the curtain rods higher than the window to create the illusion of a taller window frame.
I also don’t mind the “pooling” of the material on the floor. I folded about 2 feet of cloth behind the curtain before I clipped each in place so there wasn’t too much on the floor. You can fold the material facing out too to look like a valance. I liked both but since mine was on the longer end, I decided to leave it folded the other way.
I will do a full bedroom update once I have the new duvet insert and cover. I am tired of having a bunch of comforters that take up so much room in storage. I’d rather one duvet insert and a bunch of covers to use interchangeably.
