Monthly Favorites blogs are one of my favorite blogs to type! I get to share with you what I’ve been loving each month and because I haven’t done one this year, I plan to combine more than just July in this one. Some things I will be sharing at a later date since many of them are wedding related. I plan to post them in or after September!
This post may contain Affiliate links which means that I may receive a commission if you make a purchase using these links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. These blogs are 100% my own opinion and I only post and link things that I use, love, and add value to my life in some way.
There are also a few things I purchased for my Bach/girl’s weekend and bridal shower in August so those will be in next month’s blog!
First I will start with a purchase I made in the spring. I saw so many great reviews of this mascara and it was only $5! It makes your lashes so long, it does not clump, and I am super picky about my mascara. I hate when one will give me spider looking eyelashes. No thank you! This does not do that. I definitely recommend trying it out if you are looking for an affordable mascara. The best part is that it is gluten free and cruelty free!

This year I have changed my diet so much and really committed to my health. I have realized I have a sensitivity to wheat products, brown rice, and dairy which I’ve known about my entire life. I still have wheat and dairy here and there but I avoid the brown rice at all costs. It gives me such a bad reaction and makes parts of my face puff up. Beginning this journey, I started working with other flours more and more. I’ve always used almond flour but I recently found this brand on Amazon and I absolutely love it. My recipes come out perfect every time. Not all brands are equal! If you’ve been wanting to try almond flour, this brand offers a small, medium, and large bag. I typically get the medium size and it lasts me a while! Almond flour is very versatile. I use it to bread my chicken or veggies, muffins, mug cakes, etc.

Another flour I have been using and is very new to me is Cassava flour! OMG I am in love. I use this as a 1:1 substitute for regular flour in most of my recipes. Chicken parm, muffins, cookies, pancakes, poptarts, etc. If you are looking for a flour that is similar to regular flour, I highly recommend trying this one out!

This year I have really been diving deep into new books and expanding my knowledge personally, as a coach, and as a mentor. This book has really helped me connect with myself more on a deeper level. I really loved the way she told her story and the self care rituals she included in her book. This is by far one of my favorites. I highly recommend if you are looking to learn more about rituals to connect deeper with yourself and spirit, living a more holistic lifestyle, and being true to you.

I have been wanting to add to my face care and body routine this year. I have been learning about gua sha since last year, a type of ayurvedic healing method. I love this set and how I have 3 different ways to use the set. Gua sha is a very easy technique to learn which is basically gently “scraping” your face with the smooth stone to improve circulation in your face. This can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, improve acne, depuff, etc. The stones have so many amazing healing properties for us. And many of us are really good at taking care of our body when it comes to fitness and/or nutrition but not many of us focus on the external appearance of our skin with something as simple as a gua sha practice.

Another book I really enjoyed this year is Eat Pretty Every Day. It’s a great book for beginning new habits and transitioning to a healthier lifestyle! This book gives you one goal each day to build into a routine according to the season! It includes recipes, tips, tricks, skin care, mindfulness, mental health, etc. I quickly skimmed through the book and I already have introduced many of these habits into my routine over the years however there are some that I began adding in that have benefited my life recently. If you are looking to implement new healthy habits and would like a book to guide you, I highly recommend this one. It’s small enough to carry in your purse, bag, car, leave on your end table, etc.

This next book I absolutely loved. It was recommended in a mentorship I am in and it has been incredibly helpful for me as I transition into a better version of myself this year. If you are needing something to help you through life or have a new perspective with actions you can take now, this book is perfect for you. I had a few of my clients read this as well and they have found it just as helpful and relatable for their lives.

Recently I have been looking into a better brush for my hair especially because my hair is super thin but it has a lot of body to it. I began doing a scalp massage technique to help increase blood flow to my scalp and promote healthier hair, growth, shine, etc. This brush has helped as well! I really love it however when my hair is very curly, I do realize I have a more difficult time using it. I do not recommend this brush if you have thick hair, curly, etc. It will not work for you. This brush is for finer hair to help distribute your natural oils throughout your hair and it also comes with a comb in a cute little bag to store them!

Another book I am currently reading is The Four Agreements. I have recommended it to a few people already and even though I am half way through, I wanted to include it this month. This book has helped me with a new perspective or just deepening one I already have and understanding more. It is a very short and easy read too. I take it with me to Physical Therapy to read while I wait or when I have time at night.
