I love trail mix. Like it’s bad sometimes lol. It’s my go-to for road trips and hiking, days I’m out all day, and just to keep around the house to eat with my apples or a handful here and there. You get the point.
I stopped buying trail mix working on my gut health due to the inflammatory oils and all the sugar and dyes it contains. Trail mix should not have 5k ingredients in my opinion.
Lucky for you, this one is super customizable and you can add in whatever you like. You can even roast the nuts with your own oil like EVOO, Coconut, or Avocado oil if you want a more neutral oil to use with mild to no flavor.
For this you will need walnuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, and dark chocolate (the healthier kind) or what ever type you prefer but not all chocolate is made the same. I prefer Endangered Species brand and a select few others. I used the Almond Sea Salt one so I had the salty part mixed right into the chocolate. All about the convenience.
To make sure you don’t have added in inflammatory oils in the ingredients. I made sure to check the nutrition labels/ingredient labels before buying them and bought all plain no roasted.
If you prefer to roast them as mentioned above, it’s super easy to do on your own in bulk. I’ll have to make another recipe for those! Definitely going to be a summer staple for me and all the hiking and camping we are planning this summer. Enjoy!!
Questions for you!
1. What’s your favorite type of trail mix?
2. Do you like camping and hiking?
3. What’s your favorite kind of chocolate?
