Hey guys! Thanks for stopping back on the blog. I have honestly been feeling like I’m in a funk lately but to get myself out of it, I plan on doing some fall things that make me feel good today starting with sharing this apple pie recipe with you!
This recipe was literally cake…er… pie? It was easy, okay?
I’m a one bowl kind of gal. If a recipe needs multiple pieces of equipment and all the things.. you can bet your bottom I am NOT doing it. But I will 100% find a way to make it easier lol. This is actually one bowl for apples, and a small one for the spice mixture. Nothing too crazy!
This week was a bit cooler since we are finally in fall weather here. Perfect weather for baking, soups, stews, and chili!
We had a ton of apples from apple picking for my bff’s birthday plus what I had from the store. I used McIntosh apples since I had so many and they needed to be used up asap.
For this you can use a homemade pie crust or just a store bought one for easy and convenience purposes.
The Easiest Homemade Apple Pie You’ll Ever Make (Your New Go-To Recipe)
Ingredients
- 6 cups Slices apples I used McIntosh, You can use more apples if you want a fuller pie.
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- ½ cup Packed light brown sugar
- ½ tbsp Cinnamon
- ¼ tsp Ground ginger
- ¼ tsp Ground nutmeg
- 1 tbsp Melted butter
- 3 tbsp Flour
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375° and prepare a pie crust in a 9" baking dish and press sides if desired to create the "pretty" pie crust edges.
- In a small bowl combine the brown sugar, flour, and spices.
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples with lemon juice.
- Pour sugar mixture over the apples and mix until all are coated evenly.
- Pour apples into the pie, spread evenly
- OPTIONAL: Place second pie crust over top if desired, press sides down and poke holes.Brush the top with melted butter or an egg white wash.
- If skipping the "optional" step, brush the tops of the apples and the crust edges with melted butter and place in oven.
- Bake for 15 minutes ON THE BOTTOM RACK
- After 15 minutes, reduce the oven temp WITHOUT OPENING THE OVEN to 300° and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes. You want to watch your crust and make sure it's not burning. You can also cover the crust with aluminum foil to prevent this.
