- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- ½ cup Packed light brown sugar
- ½ tbsp Cinnamon
- ¼ tsp Ground ginger
- ¼ tsp Ground nutmeg
- 1 tbsp Melted butter
- 3 tbsp Flour
Preheat oven to 375° and prepare a pie crust in a 9" baking dish and press sides if desired to create the "pretty" pie crust edges.
In a small bowl combine the brown sugar, flour, and spices.
In a large bowl, combine sliced apples with lemon juice.
Pour sugar mixture over the apples and mix until all are coated evenly.
Pour apples into the pie, spread evenly
OPTIONAL: Place second pie crust over top if desired, press sides down and poke holes.Brush the top with melted butter or an egg white wash. If skipping the "optional" step, brush the tops of the apples and the crust edges with melted butter and place in oven.
Bake for 15 minutes ON THE BOTTOM RACK
After 15 minutes, reduce the oven temp WITHOUT OPENING THE OVEN to 300° and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes. You want to watch your crust and make sure it's not burning. You can also cover the crust with aluminum foil to prevent this.
